Pretty plants that will give your home’s interior instant aesthetic appeal

When you think of home decor, you’re probably imagining the right furniture, art, lighting, colors, rugs, etc. Those are all amazing essentials, but plants are another idea to consider for your home’s interior spaces. Plants not only purify the air and bring a bit of nature indoors but can also create visual interest with texture, shape, size and more. Our plant pros have a list of aesthetic plants that will deliver instant personality for your home.

Cactus
If you tend to forget about watering, then a cactus may be an excellent choice. Cacti come in all sizes and shapes, some for the tabletop and others that can grow several feet high.

These prickly plants do well in a cozy spot with direct sun. They’re low maintenance bringing a desert appeal to home decor.

Rubber tree
This beautiful botanical has graced the spaces of many homes. The rubber tree plant with striking, large, deep green leaves is adaptable to many interior areas. The plant is also low-maintenance and thrives with sandy soil, light fertilization and good light.

Boston fern
If you enjoy looking at frilly plants with delicate, arching fronds and a hanging plant aesthetic, then, a Boston fern is a lovely piece to add to your space. It’s a puffy plant that requires only indirect sunlight and moist soil. This type of fern is also non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Majesty palm
This stunning, upright plant creates an elegant focus to a large empty space, and that’s why the majesty palm plant is a favorite in many homes. The lush green fronds are attractive to any decor, and this plant thrives best in a room with medium to bright light.

Olive tree
Olive tree plants are one of the trendiest home decor items that you will see just about everywhere. These pretty plants can be a challenge to grow, however. It’s a compact tree ideal for small spaces, but watering olive tree plants the right way matters. Allow the plant to dry out between each watering, and find a south-facing window with tons of sun for your olive tree.

Calathea
Maybe you prefer a tabletop plant, and if so, the calathea is an interesting one with two-tone, bright green leaves that look reptile-like. The calathea makes for a terrific pot plant that delivers a striking textural appearance. It’s low-light and doesn’t need pruning except for the removal of brown or yellowed leaves.

Birds of paradise
A tropically gorgeous, upright plant is Birds of Paradise, and to keep this one growing in all its splendor, make sure it receives regular watering with bright, indirect light. Birds of Paradise features large, glossy, banana-shaped leaves that fan out on long, graceful stems.

Monstera deliciosa
If you prefer the aesthetic of a climbing dramatic plant, Monstera deliciosa does not disappoint. It’s an easygoing plant whose unique leaves produce striking hole formations. The vining plant enjoys climbing out of its pot as it grows and trailing over a trellis. It can be placed in just about any room and grows its fastest in a bright spot.

Fiddle leaf fig tree
Imagine a plant with large, heavily veined, violin-shaped leaves, and you would be describing a fiddle leaf fig tree. The trendy, upright tree thrives with an east-facing, sunny window. Even if you’re water-forgetful, the fig leaf is a strong sort and survives for up to two weeks without water.

Lemon tree
You can grow a lemon tree indoors if you expose the plant to about eight hours of sunlight each day and keep it away from hot or cold drafts. A lemon tree needs the soil to dry out about three inches deep before you water it again. To grow gorgeous foliage and yummy fruit, lemons need proper fertilizing as in nitrogen, magnesium and iron.
